About the Sapphire Quilters

The purpose of the Sapphire Quilt Club is to enhance community knowledge of all forms of quilt history, designing, patterns, and making by providing regular meetings and educational workshops, with fun and fellowship foremost at all gatherings.

A very important goal of the Club is to promote camaraderie among individuals interested in quilting. Forming mini-groups and sharing interests in similar projects can provide the catalyst for life-long friendships.

Another goal of the Club is to make and distribute Sunshine Quilts to residents of the Bitterroot Valley who find themselves, through no fault of their own, in life-changing circumstances, such as a child's loss of a parent, diagnosis of a traumatic disease, loss of a family home due to fire, or a youngster needing heart surgery or kidney dialysis.

During our monthly meetings, learning is facilitated through demonstrations, speakers, and many hands-on activities. "Show and Tell" is a regular part of each meeting. Members are encouraged to display and talk about their latest quilting effort and what it taught them. All who attend our meetings will find a level of expertise to match their own - from beginners needing a term such as 'fat quarter' defined for them through successful authors of books on quilting design and pattern making.

The yearly planned activities of the Club include but are not limited to:

  • Annual 'New Year' Picnic
  • Biennial Quilt Show
  • Classes
  • Christmas Holiday Party
  • Mini-groups
  • Mother's Day Tea
  • Ravalli County Fair
